Garden wedding decoration pictures

There are typically many ways to make wedding decorations in the garden.
When a couple gets married under the arch, the wedding guests will enjoy the spectacular setup.

Have a look at some different wedding decoration pictures, maybe you will get some ideas for your own or a friends wedding.

This one has a very nice flower bouquet on the top and the heart in front of the arch is really beautiful.

Another wedding arbor completely covered in flowers.

There are many ways to decorate the arbor. How about one draped in white curtains? I do not think the married couple can pass through this archway.

A nice arch with a statue in the middle. Notice the arch framing the fountain to make it look even more impressive.

A very simple setup, but still very nice. Wedding decoration on a budget.

The last one features a large "N", made in flowers in front of the archway.

Benefits of a Garden Arbor With Gate

Developing a gorgeous garden area in your yard is a wonderful idea. Such a lush area can really create an oasis of solitude and serenity in your yard that you can enjoy on your own or share with an intimate group of family or friends who drop by. Many people who are making an enclosed garden in their yard will debate whether a garden arbor with a gate or without is best. There are quite a few benefits to consider for having this area enclosed by a gate. Here are some things to think about:

Keeping Pets out of the garden.

A garden arbor with a gate serves to keep many pesky critters out of the yard, and these are those animals that can destroy the vegetation that you have spent so much time and energy developing and caring for. While some of these critters may be unfamiliar to you, others may be your “best friend.” In fact, a gated arbor is a great way to keep your dog or dogs from running through the garden, destroying vegetation, leaving behind their stinky surprises, and digging holes, too.

Keeping kids out of the area.

A garden arbor with a gate, likewise, works well with keeping kids out of the area. While certainly any child beyond toddler years can figure out how to open a gate latch, the mere fact that the area is gated off creates a visible barrier or zone where they can be taught to avoid going into without permission. Your child will certainly love to spend tranquil moments in the arbor with you, but a gate will help you to control and establish rules for when children may enter the garden and when they may not.

True oasis of solitude and relaxation.

The brain works in some pretty fun ways sometimes, but the fact is that sometimes having a garden arbor with a gate, even a small gate that you can easily see over, helps you to establish mentally that you have entered a new realm in your yard. Simply opening up the gate and stepping through the archway can truly help your mind to differentiate that the garden area is a distinct, separate area of the yard. This helps you to create a true oasis of solitude and relaxation in this area, which is just what you want out of a garden arbor area.

As you can see, there are some considerable benefits to having a garden arbor with a gate. Typically, such a gate is not an expensive feature to add, and it has some benefits that can really help you to get more enjoyment and less stress out of the area. There are several different types of gates that will work well with a fenced-in arbor area, so you will want to take a look around at the various options available to find the right one. Then, with a few hours of installation, you can have a garden arbor fully sectioned off that is your own little respite of serenity and relaxation. Consider these benefits for adding a gate to your space and start taking a look into the style options available to you today.

Arbor Benches - Variations in Styles

If you have an arbor garden area in your backyard, you may be considering adding arbor benches for seating. These benches offer a comfortable place where you can relax and unwind in your backyard, taking in the natural beauty of the garden you have created. They also offer seating for family and friends who drop by and give you a wonderful area to really enjoy each other's company in a low-key area amidst the sounds of nature. You won't want to put just any seating in this area, however, and instead you will want to pay attention to the style so you make the perfect choice.

Composition of the materials.

One of the biggest decisions you can make in picking out your arbor benches is the composition of the materials for the seating. You will find that many benches are made of various types of wood, and often cedar and teak are great choices because they hold up well with exposure to the elements. Other choices are metal and wrought iron, which often add a more elegant look to the area. In addition, you can also choose the classic look that cement-composition benches offer.

Different Arbor Benches Styles.

As you look at the various materials available for your arbor benches, you will also want to look at the specific styles these are available in. Many people opt for a more elegant and even Victorian or vintage look to their outdoor garden area, but the fact is that the garden should suit your style and should correspond to the style of your home, too. For this reason, more and more people are adding more modern looks to their garden areas, and these look stunning as well.

Decorative Touches.

The composition and overall style of the arbor benches you select will set the tone of your garden area, but there are some decorative touches that you can add to your seating that will add a new dimension of style as well as comfort to your seating area. Consider what adding some seat cushions and even throw pillows to your seating area can do. You can really have a fun time exploring the colors, patterns, and materials of your cushions and pillows. However, keep in mind that you will want to choose fabrics that are suitable for the outdoors. They will be exposed to the elements, so you will want them to be able to hold up to the elements for several years.

As you can see, you truly do have a lot of variety in customizing the seating area for your arbor. Arbor benches are a fabulous choice for outdoor seating, and they can truly be customized in terms of materials used, the style, and cushion colors and styles, too. Having a dedicated seating area in your arbor can truly add to your enjoyment of your garden area, as it gives you a comfortable and attractive area where you can sit and enjoy your garden and the weather. Plus, they even provide you with an additional area where you can entertain guests outdoors, too.

Create the Perfect Garden With a Japanese Arbor

If you asked someone to describe what a Japanese arbor looked like, they probably wouldn’t be able to, although most of us can identify one when we see them. These are particularly unique arbors and are a great addition to any garden, no matter where you live or what kind of yard you have.

Japanese arbors have a few features in common that distinguish them from arbors that you might find in a more traditional American backyard:

Styling.

There is a particular style to Japanese arbors that give them an Asian look. Generally speaking, they have sharp lines, a flat top, and sometimes slightly swayed tops. These are not arches, as the beams are straight across, but the two sides are often not quite horizontal.

Construction.

Although there are some exceptions to be found, most Japanese arbors are made from wood, and in particular, cedar wood.  Although there are some areas of the country that are better suited for untreated wood arbors, you will find these almost everywhere. Unfortunately, they don’t last as long as iron arbors do, but they are well worth the money and you should get at least a decade out of one.

Installation.

You will also find that most Japanese arbors are free-standing and that they are not buried into the ground. For ease of installation, this is a big time and money saver, since you won’t have to dig a hole or mix concrete. That being said, they are also somewhat prone to falling down, so it is a good idea to at least have your arbor tied to another structure to keep it safe in windy weather.

Plants.

You will find that most people who use this type of arbor do not choose to go with traditional ivy to climb up the structure. Using a small, flowering plant, such as jasmine or cherry blossoms, really makes it feel much more Asian and will provide you with a beautiful setting in your backyard.

If you are looking to buy a Japanese arbor, you will find, as most people do, that there are very few of them available in your local home improvement store, and you might not even find one. You can look for them in patio stores or garden centers, but these are somewhat high-ticket items, and they are not often in stock.

In fact, if you are thinking of buying one of these arbors to decorate your front or back yard, you will actually find the best selection of them online. When you shop online, make sure that you pay close attention to the installation that will be required, the amount of construction or assembly that you will have to do, and the shipping costs. In most cases, you can get them shipped free or at a very low cost, and if you don’t have a lot of assembly to do, you could have your own Japanese arbor up in your garden in just a matter of a few days.

Is It Worth Installing a Porch Arbor?

A porch arbor probably isn’t high on your list of things to buy for your home, but it is one of the few minor improvements you can make that will seriously increase the value of your home. Especially if you are thinking of putting your home on the market, it is an inexpensive way to make your home more attractive to potential buyers and in the meantime will make your home more enjoyable for you and your entire family.

When you are looking for a porch arbor, you should first start by going online. There you will find a much wider selection than you would find in any home improvement store, garden center, or patio store, and you will get a better price, too. In fact, you will find that the variety is almost endless and that many of the arbors can be customized to your precise specifications, which can be handy if you have an odd-sized porch area.

What Are the Options?

When you are buying a porch arbor, the first thing you should probably look at is the overall height. If you are placing an arbor near a door, then obviously it has to be wider and taller than the door, but also well underneath the height of the roof of your home. If your porch arbor will be situated much further away from the house, perhaps on an elongated porch, then you have a little more flexibility with the size.

Another issue is the depth of the porch arbor. Generally speaking, if you want more color in your arbor, then you should choose one that is deeper. For instance, an arbor that is three feet or more (36”) will give you a lot more room to intertwine your various plants and provide more greenery for you.

What About Design?

Some people will tell you that the arbor is the feature, while others will insist that it is the plants, vines, and flowers that are interspersed throughout the arbor that are the feature. This really depends on the weather you live in, how much work you are willing to put in, and whether or not you want a clean arbor or one that looks like you have been working on it for years.

At the core of any arbor is the shape – some have arches, some have flat tops, and others have pointed tops that look like the roof of a house. Before you buy any one shape, take a look at the surrounding area to make sure that it won’t clash with your home, your garden, your fence, or any other similar structures.

Decide on Installation.

Finally, it is important to establish how you will be installing your porch arbor. If it will be firmly attached to your home’s structure, such as to an existing deck, then any arbor will do, but if you will be cementing it into the ground, then make sure you select one that has long enough legs that will allow you to do that without reducing the overall size of the structure.

Should You Install a Deck Arbor?

If you are looking for a way to increase the value of your home, then you might think that a new kitchen or some new flooring is the best way to do it. But instead of spending thousands of dollars on something that may or may not be valuable to potential buyers, why not use a fraction of that amount of money and put up a deck arbor? Studies show that a deck arbor is one of the few alterations you can make to your house in which you will actually reap the true value of what you put into it.

There are several reasons why you should install a deck arbor in your yard:

  1. An arbor provides shade, which can also help shade your home and keep it cooler in the summertime – and that means lower utility bills! Once your arbor has been covered with plants, you will notice that all of that shade is actually very useful.

  2. A deck arbor can also help protect other items, such as a barbecue grill, other plants, your patio itself, or windows on your home. In many ways, it acts as an eave on your home (if it is close enough), providing protection from wind, rain, and sun.

  3. Aesthetically speaking, the difference a deck arbor can make to an otherwise plain patio or backyard is incredible. It provides a degree of depth and height that you otherwise wouldn’t get. It also provides for an area that can be used for sitting, dining, or gardening that is out of the sun and free from the heat of the summer.

If there is one problem with a deck arbor, it is that you will have a lot of choices in the type that you buy. Before you make your purchase, it is always worth checking out what your neighbors have so that you can get a real-life look at how they work. Some people may have plants growing on them (such as vines), while others may have theirs perfectly clean.

There are any number of different shapes and sizes of arbors that you can choose from, so you should also properly measure the area in your yard that you have available. Some arbors are completely freestanding, while others will need to be attached to your home, a fence, or an existing gate. In addition, some arbors require that you put them in with concrete, while others simply need to be buried a foot or so in the ground. Make sure you read all of the directions before you buy any arbor to make sure that it suitable for your particular situation.

By shopping online, you will also find that there are virtually hundreds of different types of arbors to choose from, and your decision may have to be guided on how much money you have to spend. Luckily, you will find that arbors online are far more affordable than those you might find in your local home improvement store, and that there is a much wider selection, too.

Decorating Ideas for Wedding Arbors

Wedding arbors are a popular decorative touch for outdoor nuptials, and often they are used as a backdrop for the ceremony itself. Many people creating an outdoor ceremony and reception area will plan on the bride, groom, and official standing under or in front of a lovely arbor. Others will include an arbor near the focal area of the reception, which may include the wedding table or the cake table. However you plan to use an arbor in your upcoming nuptials, you will find that you want to take some extra steps to decorate this feature. There are some wonderful decorating ideas that you can consider for your own celebration.

Flowers and Vegetation.

Decorating wedding arbors with flowers and vegetation is a popular idea. When used as a landscaping feature in backyards, arbors are generally featured with fragrant blooms. Often these blooms are from climbing vines in a backyard. However, with a wedding, typically this feature is rented from a service, so you will need to add the vegetation yourself. Many will choose to add silk blooms to the arbor that correspond with the flowers chosen to decorate the wedding and reception site in order to create a cohesive look. However, adding basic greenery can have a gorgeous effect as well, as this can make the bride's white dress and bouquet really pop against the backdrop of the arbor.

Wedding arbors with lighting.

If you are planning a wedding with nuptials scheduled for darkened hours, such as right at sunset or in the darkened evening hours, wedding arbors with lighting intertwined in the weaving can be stunning. Such lighting often sets a romantic tone to the wedding, which is fitting for an evening event. The lighting can be used in conjunction with greenery and vegetation to complete the look that you are trying to achieve.

Ribbons and Bows.

Ribbons and bows are popular additions to an indoor wedding ceremony site, and they can be used just as beautifully outdoors as well. Often, ribbons and bows are added with the vegetation, and possibly lighting for an evening wedding, on wedding arbors. Typically, matching ribbons and bows will be included in the bridal and wedding party bouquets and boutonnieres as well as in the seating area for the guests, too. These can be used to create a unifying look to the décor and can really add some flair and beauty to the outdoor celebration.

As you can see, you really do have a lot of flexibility in how you decorate wedding arbors for your outdoor ceremony. You will first have to decide which type of arbor to use as a backdrop of your ceremony. However, keep in mind that with the lighting, flowers and vegetation, and ribbons and bows you will be using to decorate the arbor, which style of arbor you choose should be fairly simple and straightforward. You will want to ensure that it is large enough to serve as a backdrop for the bride, groom, and official to stand comfortably under or in front of, though.

Is a Patio Arbor Right for Your Space?

A patio arbor is a great choice as an outdoor landscaping feature for so many reasons. The covered patio seating area is ideal because it offers you a shady alcove to sit and relax outdoors, and it is the perfect place to really admire your landscaping efforts in peace or entertain friends and family. Because it is shady and is often surrounded by natural vegetation, the area often has a serene ambiance and is much cooler in temperature than other areas of your backyard may be. This can be quite refreshing in the warm summer months. However, there are a few considerations that you will want to keep in mind as you weigh the pros and cons of this feature for your space:

Patio Arbor Size.

A patio arbor generally is meant to have a seating area in place, and this means that it should be large enough to provide seating for several people. While some people will place two sitting chairs coupled with a side table in this space, others will opt for a large outdoor seating area. You will want to consider what your needs for the space are, and then consider if you have enough space in your backyard to accommodate this feature. Keep in mind that such an arbor requires horizontal space as well as vertical space, as they are generally covered seating areas.

Different materials for your patio arbor.

Some people will opt for a natural look to their patio arbor, and usually this means installing a wood composition arbor. These may even include a wooden deck as the floor of the area, too. If you are considering using wood for this space, consider the upkeep of regular staining along with how well the type of wood you choose will hold up to the elements. Cedar and teak generally hold up better to the elements than soft woods like pine. There are other materials choices you can opt for as well, such as various types of metal and vinyl. Some of these may still have a wooden deck as the floor, but you can also consider crushed granite or small pebbles as the flooring, too.

Décor your arbor.

A patio arbor largely is a natural, outdoor area, and for this reason it generally will feature a variety of well-chosen decorative plants. Some people will choose to keep these plants in pots, and this usually offers easier upkeep. This is also a good idea for areas where the weather is extremely hot or extremely cold in certain times of the year, as the plants can be moved indoors during these harsh climatic times. Others will choose to install bushes around the arbor, and still more will add climbing plants like ivy, climbing roses, and even berry vines to the area. Each of these will create a different look to your patio, so you will want to make this decision carefully.

Many people find that creating a patio arbor in their backyard is a wonderful choice. It creates a natural outdoor that is ideal for relaxing on your own with the sounds of nature or for entertaining. With the combination of shade, seating, and vegetation, it often creates an idyllic ambiance that you can enjoy throughout most of the year.

Shade Arbors: An Excellent Addition to Your Yard

Want to extend your living area? Make excellent use of your outdoor space by building a shade arbor. Shade arbors are an excellent addition to your yard. Not only do they enhance the home's landscaping value, they are quick and easy to put up. Plus, with one in your yard, you won't have to worry where to entertain relatives and friends who come to visit.

Think of a room with no walls. Instead of a ceiling, you have beans through with you can look at the sky. This makes it the perfect alternative to patios, open-air decks, or even the more lightweight roll-out canopies that some homeowners prefer. Whether your shade arbor is on a deck, over a patio, or free-standing a garden, your shade arbor will keep you protected from the sun. Even with the sun shining its hottest overhead, you can enjoy the outdoors because arbors typically provide about 95 percent of shade.

Advantages of Shade Arbors.

You may feel that shade arbors is a waste of time and money, but the truth is that getting one put up is not at all a bad investment to make. Here's why it makes perfect sense to put up a pergola in your yard.

  1. It adds definition to your living space outdoors.
  2. It provides shade from the sun.
  3. It supports outdoor lighting and paddle fans.
  4. It's an excellent venue for relaxing and entertaining.
  5. It can accent and frame walkways.
  6. It enhances the entrance to your yard.
  7. It can be built over your existing patio, making it a more intimate area.

What of Its Make?

Most homeowners prefer shade arbors that are made of western cedar. If you are on a tight budget, however, you may want to consider composite materials instead. These materials combine plastic and wood. They do not need sealing or staining, making them a low maintenance, inexpensive option for the homeowner who's on a budget.

Jazzing Up Your Arbor.

Of course, the best way to make your arbor truly distinctive is to give it little touches here and there. If you have a green thumb, go ahead and plant vines. The beams and pillars provide creepers excellent support as well as adequate sunlight. If you're feeling lazy or just can't find the time to decorate, put a hammock in your arbor. That's all you need to while the hours away reading or napping outdoors. You can also give your arbor a classic country look by adding a swinging bench or a rocking chair. Or, you can go for a theme—Victorian, for example. Toss in a rustic-looking table, a few candle holders, and some flowers, and you're ready to have guests over.

Without a doubt, shade arbors are a welcome addition to any backyard. You can put yours up anywhere and enjoy your cozy refuge from the sun. You can grill or barbecue while you entertain friends, or simply settle in with a good read on hand.

What Is an Arbor Arch?

So many people today are looking for new ways to relax outdoors and enjoy their backyards more fully. For some people, this means spending money renovating and updating their patios or even turning them into huge outdoor living areas. For other people, a more natural backyard experience is in order, and many people are taking steps to add an arbor arch to their outdoor space. This essentially is an archway that leads into a lush garden area of your home.

Arbor arch materials.

An arbor arch traditionally is comprised of a sturdy wooden frame. You can use any type of wood for your arch, but the sturdiness and durability of cedar makes it a popular choice. Some people will paint their arch white or even another hue. However, generally this landscaping feature is designed to have climbing vegetation grow up and over it, so maintenance and upkeep of a painted archways may be difficult. For this reason, staining wood is a popular choice. There are other material options available as well, including wrought iron and even durable plastic materials, too.

Different Designs.

There are quite a few designs that you can choose from when selecting an arbor arch for your backyard garden area. Often these will include a trellis area on the sides, as it gives climbing vegetation something to grab onto as it grows upward. The tops of these arches can be curved or flat, and usually they are rather ornate. The styles do vary, though, which gives you flexibility to find one that is perfect for your space. Keep in mind that if you cannot find the perfect design for your space, these landscaping features are fairly easy for a do-it-yourselfer to create in just a few hours.

Choosing the right vegetation.

The vegetation you select to grow up and over your arbor arch is important, as it will eventually help to complete the look of your space. Flowering vegetation is the most popular, and you can consider plants like wisteria, honeysuckle, climbing roses, and more. While flowering plants like these provide you with a bright, colorful, and fragrant passageway into your outdoor garden area, some people do opt to put fruit plants on their archway instead of flowers. Climbing vines such as grapes and berries are an excellent choice. These plants offer you blooms, and then their fruit creates colorful beauty as it ripens. It can be quite enjoyable to walk through the archway, grab a piece of fresh fruit off the vine as you enter the garden, and then sit on a bench or patio seating to enjoy your pick.

An arbor arch truly is a popular landscaping feature, and it can add a new element of beauty to the aesthetic look of your backyard. Often it creates a calming, peaceful garden nook in a backyard, and this is the perfect respite that your backyard may currently be missing. There are several things to think about as you consider which arch to install in your backyard, including the materials, the color, the design, and the type of vegetation that you will grow over the arch.
