Me, as a sports fan, over the years …

NBA When I landed in USA in early 1998, Michael Jordan was about to culminate his fantastic run with the Bulls. I really enjoyed the 1998 Playoffs. And soon Shaquille O’Neal moved to LA. From 2000-2004, I spent a lot of time following NBA. The biggest sport thrill I had during this time period (bar

Artest to Lakers, Ariza to Rockets

Gah! This is the last time we'll ever see this team together as the Lakers just signed Ron Artest after Trevor Ariza's agent turned down the Lakers offer of $5.6million a year.
On the one hand, I'm disappointed because Ariza had become my favorite Laker.
On the other hand, Artest is exactly what the Lakers need - a tough guy who can make things difficult for the opposing teams best guy. He can also be Kobe's Marty McSorley.
Additionally, who's to say that Ariza won't just become another Luke Walton or Devean George after signing a long term contract? Signing with the Rockets, who many believe will not be contenders next year, tells me that Ariza is more interested in getting paid than winning. Artest, on the other hand, is passionate about playing for the Lakers and living in Los Angeles. I always felt that he got a raw deal with the Detroit brawl. Artest is a known quantity while Ariza had one good post-season.
