Dozens of protesters and a stinging newspaper headline greeted Michael Vick on his first day back in the NFL.

It could've been worse. This is Philadelphia.

Vick picked a tough place for a second chance. The City of Brotherly Love is known more for its nastiness than a forgiving nature.

But Vick wants to play here, anyway.

"I know everybody is asking, 'Why Philadelphia?'" a somber Vick said Friday, a day after signing with the Philadelphia Eagles. "First off, I think it is one of the flagship organizations — great tradition, great staff, great organization, winning team. I just want to be a part of that great tradition and give this team every opportunity to win a Super Bowl."

Two weeks of vitriolic exchanges between cable news hosts Bill O'Reilly and Keith Olbermann have amped up viewership for Fox News as efforts by corporate executives to strike a détente fell apart.

Fox News' Bill O'Reilly and MSNBC's Keith Olbermann, who face off in the 5 p.m. PDT time slot, have been attacking each other's networks ever since news broke earlier this month that executives had sought to tamp down the personal attacks by the two men, whose sparring has long been a staple of the cable news wars.

The renewed feud appears to have benefited O'Reilly, whose show "The O'Reilly Factor" averaged nearly 3.5 million viewers between Aug. 3 and 13, the nine days following the news of the supposed truce. That's 7% higher than his average viewership so far this year and 12% more than his average this quarter, which began June 29. He also recorded more than a million viewers in the key 25- to 54-year-old demographic twice last week, his largest showings among that age group this year.

"Countdown With Keith Olbermann" pulled in an average of 1.17 million viewers between Aug. 3 and 13, down 4% from his year-to-date average but up 13% for the quarter.

Experts who track hate groups across the U.S. are growing increasingly concerned over violent rhetoric targeted at President Obama, especially as the debate over health care intensifies and a pattern of threats emerges.

The Secret Service is investigating a Maryland man who held a sign reading "Death to Obama" and "Death to Michelle and her two stupid kids" outside a town hall meeting this week. And in New Hampshire, another man stood across the street from a Presidential town hall with his gun on full display.

Los Angeles police officers apprehended a man Thursday after a standoff with him inside a red Volkswagen Bug car in Westwood, CA – the latest disturbing case even though officials said the man had mental problems.

I join millions of Americans in expressing appreciation for the Senate Finance Committee’s decision to remove the provision in the pending health care bill that authorizes end-of-life consultations (Section 1233 of HR 3200). It’s gratifying that the voice of the people is getting through to Congress; however, that provision was not the only disturbing detail in this legislation; it was just one of the more obvious ones.

As I noted in my statement last week, nationalized health care inevitably leads to rationing. There is simply no way to cover everyone and hold down the costs at the same time. The rationing system proposed by one of President Obama’s key health care advisors is particularly disturbing. I’m speaking of the “Complete Lives System” advocated by Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the brother of the president’s chief of staff. President Obama has not yet stated any opposition to the “Complete Lives System,” a system which, if enacted, would refuse to allocate medical resources to the elderly, the infirm, and the disabled who have less economic potential. [1] Why the silence from the president on this aspect of his nationalization of health care? Does he agree with the “Complete Lives System”? If not, then why is Dr. Emanuel his policy advisor? What is he advising the president on? I just learned that Dr. Emanuel is now distancing himself from his own work and claiming that his “thinking has evolved” on the question of rationing care to benefit the strong and deny the weak. [2] How convenient that he disavowed his own work only after the nature of his scholarship was revealed to the public at large.

The president is busy assuring us that we can keep our private insurance plans, but common sense (and basic economics) tells us otherwise. The public option in the Democratic health care plan will crowd out private insurers, and that’s what it’s intended to do. A single payer health care plan has been President Obama’s agenda all along, though he is now claiming otherwise. Don’t take my word for it. Here’s what he said back in 2003:

Rosie O'Donnell can't seem to stop talking about her ugly departure from "The View," and the famous feud she had with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

An eyewitness tells FOX411 exclusively that the former "The View" co-host slammed her former show and called her former co-host a vulgarism that starts with a "t" and rhymes with "swat," just four days before Hasselbeck gave birth to her third child.

It all happened on August 5 during a stand-up routine as part of O'Donnell's "Girls' Night Out Tour" with singer Cyndi Lauper. First, Rosie cracked jokes about "The View," illiciting roars of laughter from the audience at the St. George Theatre in Staten Island, N.Y.

"Rosie started out by asking the audience, 'What was that show I was on?'" an audience member tells FOX411. "Then, instead of saying, 'The View,' she called it 'The Screw You.' She continued by calling Elisabeth Hasselbeck, 'Elizabeth Half-a-brain.' Then she jumped to another topic."

But Rosie wasn't done. Not even close.

The audience member says she went back to her "The View" experience. "Rosie said when she first met Elisabeth, she thought she would love her, because they're both Christians," the eyewitness says. "Then she stopped and said, 'But then she turned on me.'

Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the health-policy adviser at the White House’s Office of Management and Budget -- who has been caricatured by conservatives as a “Dr. Death” seeking to pull the I.V.s out of your grandparents’ arms in the name of cost containment -- is not happy.

Asked by ABC News in an interview about the thoroughly discredited claim by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to paint his philosophical writings as evidence -- along with a provision providing optional end of life counseling in the House Democrats’ health care reform bill -- that President Obama wants to set up “death panels” to deny medical treatments to seniors and the disabled, including her son Trig, Emanuel, brother of White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, does not hold back.

“It’s an absolute outrage that you would take first of all a provision written in the bill,” Emanuel says, "A provision allowing for doctors to talk to patients about end of life care, and turn it into the suggestion that we’re going to have euthanasia boards -- that’s a complete misreading of what’s there. It’s just trying to scare people.”

Emanuel says as an oncologist he’s had hundreds of discussions with patients about what to do when treatment doesn’t work.

“It’s wrenching,” he says.

A black man who pretended to be a white supremacist on the Internet has entered a guilty plea to charges that he issued death threats.

U.S. Attorney Jim Letten says 20-year old Dyron Hart pled guilty in federal court to "communicating threats in interstate commerce."

The "sign grabber" is my father, a man who stops to help people stranded alongside the road, dedicates his time weekly to the poor, gives all his money to the church, and would do anything for ANYONE! our family grew up around African Americans, 3 out of 5 of his children have dated individuals of color whom my father has treated like his own children. He is not racist, he does not see color. He sees people. He is not an aggressive person. He did not even know the contents of Ms. Johnson's poster; he was upset by the fact that her breaking the "no poster" rule was being rewarded by positive media attention. My father did not see this individual as a women, as African American, or any other separatist adjective you can blow this into. He said to me in explaining the story, "it just wasn't fair." Now granted, it wasn't his duty to remove the poster from this women's possession, and he realizes this now. But there was no assaulting nor physical harm to the individual, just misjudgement from both parties involved. I'm sure if given the opportunity, my father would be falling over himself to apologize for his misjudgement and promise Ms. Johnson there was nothing racial about it.

A former top aide to Bill Clinton when he was Arkansas governor was charged Wednesday with trying to smuggle a knife and 48 tattoo needles stashed in a bag of Doritos onto the state's death row.

Betsy Wright, 66, a vocal death penalty opponent, was detained May 22, prison officials said.

It was unclear why she allegedly carried the items into the prison.

Wright denied the charges, but admitted bringing in the Doritos, which she claimed she found in the bottom of a prison vending machine.

Wright served as Clinton's chief of staff and during his 1992 presidential campaign.

A new coalition on Thursday launched $12 million in television ads to support President Barack Obama’s health reform plan, in the opening wave of a planned tens of millions of dollars this fall.

The new group, funded largely by the pharmaceutical industry, is called Americans for Stable Quality Care. It includes some odd bedfellows: the American Medical Association, FamiliesUSA, the Federation of American Hospitals, PhRMA and SEIU, the service employees’ union.

The decision of labor and progressive groups to join with industry groups could draw new heat about the president's package from the left.

The ads began airing at about 11 a.m. ET Thursday.

The group is likely to be the biggest spender in support of health reform. The campaign will serve as a counterweight to the critics at town meetings, which are getting saturation news coverage while Congress is out of town.

In a reversal from former President Bill Clinton’s 1993-94 health care debacle, the group’s campaign is likely to mean that White House supporters keep the upper hand on the airwaves.

Yesterday President Obama responded to my statement that Democratic health care proposals would lead to rationed care; that the sick, the elderly, and the disabled would suffer the most under such rationing; and that under such a system these “unproductive” members of society could face the prospect of government bureaucrats determining whether they deserve health care.

The President made light of these concerns. He said:

“Let me just be specific about some things that I’ve been hearing lately that we just need to dispose of here. The rumor that’s been circulating a lot lately is this idea that somehow the House of Representatives voted for death panels that will basically pull the plug on grandma because we’ve decided that we don’t, it’s too expensive to let her live anymore

Usually a meeting called by your local congressperson only draws a few loyal constituents, but on Wednesday, Rep. Marcia Fudge became the latest Democrat to face friends and foes over President Barack Obama's health care reform plan.

Hoping there would be strength in numbers, Democrats packed the Ford Auditorium at Case Western Reserve University to show their support for Fudge and the president's plan.

But opponents made their presence known during a meeting that was billed as a state of the district address.

"We have been trying to fix health care for more than 60 years. And we are going to fix it," Fudge said.

With that, Fudge dropped all pretenses that this was a state of the district meeting and took on the topic of health care reform.

She also made it clear right off the bat that disruptions would not be allowed.

Anyone who attempted to engage Fudge before the question-and-answer period was quickly shown the door.

Case Western Reserve University police said two opponents of reform were ejected for being disorderly.

It’s not all that surprising that Yale University Press would be wary of reprinting notoriously controversial cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in a forthcoming book. After all, when the 12 caricatures were first published by a Danish newspaper a few years ago and reprinted by other European publications, Muslims all over the world angrily protested, calling the images — which included one in which Muhammad wore a turban in the shape of a bomb — blasphemous. In the Middle East and Africa some rioted, burning and vandalizing embassies; others demanded a boycott of Danish goods; a few nations recalled their ambassadors from Denmark. In the end at least 200 people were killed.

Imam Ahmad Abu Laban, the leader of the Islamic Society of Denmark toured the Middle-East to "create awareness" about 12 cartoons that were published in Danish newspaper, Jyllands-Posten, on September 30, 2005.

However, Imam Ahmad Abu Laban, also brought at least 3 additional images, which HAD NEVER been published in any media source. They included a cartoon of Muhammad as a pedophile demon, Muhammed with a pig snout, and a praying Muslim being raped by a dog. The drawings in Jyllands-Posten were harmless compared to these (posted below)

When asked about these additional cartoons, Imam Ahmad Abu Laban said they were from threatening letters and promised to give copies of those letters to FOX News, among other news services. However, he never did.

Back in February 2006 blogger Dennis Nixon identified one of the "cartoons".

Minority Leader Brian Kolb, a Republican, is calling on the CEO of CBS to fire David Letterman for crude comments he made about Sarah Palin and her daughter.

In the letter to CBS chief Les Moonves, Kolb said he took Letterman to task for the "shockingly inappropriate" jokes.

“As the proud father of a daughter, and as a husband, I wanted Mr. Moonves to hear from me directly about Mr. Letterman’s disparaging remarks," Kolb said in a written statement.

“Firing Mr. Letterman would send a clear message that CBS will not tolerate any of its employees — even an established media figure like Mr. Letterman — making demeaning and degrading comments about women.”

"We, like the rest of the world, are waiting and watching to see what the Iranian people decide."

The Obama administration would not describe the outcome as legitimate or illegitimate or deem a victory by Mousavi as necessarily better.

"We're not going to characterize what would have been a better or worse scenario," the official said. "We will deal with this as it is, not as we wish it to be.

"We have very serious foreign policy and national security issues at play here," the official added. "That was the case yesterday. It is the case today."

Yet some U.S. lawmakers didn't hesitate to voice skepticism of the outcome.

"There appears to be pretty good evidence that this is a cooked election," Rep. Dan Lungren, R-Calif., told FOX News. "And the most depressing thing for me is we were going to see whether in fact the true leaders of this country, the religious leaders, were going to allow for a real election to have an expression of the people.

Hundreds of supporters of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and moderate challenger Mirhossein Mousavi clashed in Tehran on Saturday after a landslide victory for Mr. Ahmadinejad in a presidential election, a Reuters witness said.

Police using batons moved to disperse the demonstrators who were staging a sit-in to protest against Mr. Ahmadinejad's victory. They were chasing and arresting some of the protesters.

The witness saw two men being carried away from the scene at Vanak square in the Iranian capital. Some people were having fistfights.

The violence broke out as Iran's Interior Minister announced that Mr. Ahmadinejad had won Friday's election, gaining 62.6 per cent of the vote in an election which Mr. Mousavi has criticized for violations.

Up to 2,000 Mousavi supporters then staged a sit-in in the middle of the road, clapping hands and chanting: “Mousavi take back our vote What happened to our vote?”. They also chanted at security forces: “Police, brother, you're one of us“.
