The speed at which
electronic manufacture progresses is frighteningly fast, with new technologies and products being announced before we’ve even got our hands on the just-in-the-shops version. This has been true with home movies. Videos were replaced by DVD, DVD has been followed (but not replaced) by Blu-Ray and we also have download and streaming to consider.
Personally I’m a fan of physical media and hate the idea of a disc free future but many are fans of having all their films, TV series and music stored on a single hard drive. I like having a disc to put in the player and the art work and packaging that comes with owning a physical disc. Also, the reliance on having a good internet connection deters me from streaming and not actually owning something just doesn’t seem right to me.
So what are your thoughts? Do you like having a room full of DVD cases to choose from or are you clutter free with all films stored on a laptop?
