MBA Advice that one should take |
College - Planning For Success |
College - Planning For Success
For most people entering college it can be a very scary
experience. It is a whole new lifestyle and most people do not like big changes
in their life. From settling into your dorm for the first time to making new
friends it can be very stressful. The scariest and easily the most stressful
thing is difference in the workload. In high school the workload was much
smaller and much simpler. The college workload does not have to be as hard as it is made out to be. I am a believer that you personally choose how difficult the workload really is. The amount of work professors give you is usually a big amount and it can seem intimidating. If you analyze it clearly you will see the amount of time you get in comparison to how big the workload is, is really not that bad. In high school we all got small assignments that were due rather quickly but in college we get big assignments but are due in later time. It is the same thing really.
In college the key is to plan your work. I would literally write down everything and spread it out between days. You will see that writing a 10 page paper is not all that hard if you start from the day it is assigned. Not only will planning make the workload seem so much easier but you will do a much better job on all your assignments. Most importantly of all you eliminate that horrible stress of constantly thinking about having to do a big assignment as your procrastinating. So start planning your work today!

Tips to Pay for College |
College Scholarships For High School Seniors |
College Scholarships For High School Seniors
Luckily for those who realize the advantages of a
college education there are several college scholarships for high school
seniors. Directly leaving high school is generally the most competitive time for
applying for scholarships. It is at this time that students are learning the
process of attending school, and many take advantage of financial aid and
scholarships. Any student that is considering college owes it to their bank
account to learn about and apply for as many scholarships as possible. For seniors, this can be a stressful process, but it is getting easier and easier. For financial aid, the federal government is now piloting a program that will pull necessary information directly from the IRS to establish eligibility. Using one of these scholarships lists helps high school students in many ways. One of the biggest advantages of these one stop shop lists is that they allow students to begin applying for scholarships before they choose their school or program. These lists also allow students to see the type of qualities multiple committees are looking for, allowing the student to create a more powerful essay.
College scholarships for high school seniors are available for students, and the process of applying for them better prepares students for their college career. Being proactive and seeking out the free money available helps ensure that students get the most out of their education. By reading the requirements and applying to as many scholarships as possible, students will be exposed to programs and majors they hadn't previously been aware of and this knowledge often helps them make better decisions later.

Best College Tips That you can find |
Paying For College - Five Ways to Get Money For Your College Education |
Paying For College - Five Ways to Get Money For Your College Education
More and more young people today are opting to work
towards getting a college level education or a college degree particularly since
there are a lot of different choices to pay their way through college. In the
not so distant past, going to and paying for college would require a lot and I
do mean, a lot of money and that eventually leads to not being able to go to
college at all. These days, there are several ways of being able to get a
college education and degree without struggling financially: * First option is for high school graduating students to begin looking and exploring options while they are still in high school so they can apply in specific programs and education aids. Today, every state has a 529 college plan that allows an account holder to designate a beneficiary. So by the time college enrollment arrives, there shall be enough money disbursed and can already be used for tuition and other expenses.
* There are also college grants that you need not pay back that are available. Since these grants are need based and come from state and federal grants, there are no monthly or quarterly payments to be worried about. The grant amount or type will be entirely dependent on how much or what you are eligible for, often times there are grants that end up having all the tuition fees paid for and even books and study materials too.
* There are a lot of federal grants that you can get free applications for. You do not have to worry, since it is the state that will be paying for college expenses. All you have to do is find out what you will illegible for. Federal Student Aid Applications not only applies you for federal study aid but will also guide you to the correct application for other state aid. Considered to be one of the best options to paying for college because there are no loans or monthly payments to think and worry about later on.
* Another way to get money for college is by applying for scholarships. High School students can start applying for these scholarships early on as well as adult students that are according to specific dates set by each individual scholarship grant. And again, this is one more kind of funding option or choice that you don't have to worry about paying back.
* And if all else fails, of course there are student loans that can be obtained as well. These types of loans can be applied for either by the parents or the students themselves however, these must be paid back after you finish college. And for this reason, applicants only borrow the amount of money that they really need.
Paying for college has ceased to be the cause of worry and apprehension these days. One only need to go out and find out for themselves what is the best option to be able to get money for college. I've found one good site that has a lot of excellent scholarships and grant information. Register at that site so you can get access to all of the free college and Scholarship Money Information. They do not charge any money for this service.

College Grants and Scholarships |
College Grants - Four Steps to Applying For Federal Grants For College Students |
College Grants - Four Steps to Applying For Federal Grants For College Students
College grants are the most helpful ways to be able to
finance your college education, and in these trying times, more and more
students are taking advantage of the opportunity to be able get through college
without the worry of paying off large student loans. Here are some steps to help
you out when applying for federal grants for a college education: * The first step to do in order to apply for a college grant is to make sure that you get a copy of the Free Application for the Federal Student Aid. This kind of application can be easily obtained by simply calling Student Aid at your own college's financial office or you can simply look it up online. Fill up an actual application or, if you prefer, an online application will do. A PIN or Personal Identification Number is needed should you prefer to send your application online.
* The second step is that you have to gather all the financial documents that are required. Most necessary are your most recent forms of W-2 plus your latest income tax return. For those students who are still living with their parents, documents regarding their financial income will be required. To put it bluntly, you will have to prove that you are financially eligible for the grant since most of these grants are need based.
* The third step in applying for federal college grants is waiting. Once you have sent your application as well as all of the required documents, you should only wait for the Student Aid Report to be sent back to you. This part of the process normally takes several business days and what it contains is a summary of all the information that is provided by you in your application. Upon receipt of the Student Aid report, it is advisable to review it thoroughly for any mistake and make the necessary corrections.
* The fourth and last step of your application is to simply contact the university or your chosen college's financial aid office just to make sure that you have provided all the necessary information for the grant. You have to make sure that you keep all copies of your documents in hand as they might want to verify a few things later on. After the whole process is done, sit back and wait for the result of your college grant application.
Going off to college has become more and easier these days. Students can exercise more freedom in campus, and college grants have done its fair share of helping aspiring college students get into university to earn a degree. You just have to keep in mind though, that needs analysis for these kinds of grants take into account your family's expenses. That includes income taxes paid; your parents need to save up for retirement, number of household members that are already in college or vocational school. Most importantly though, is to stay in touch with the school's financial offices to make sure that you can get that grant and be on your way towards a college education.
I've found one good site that has a lot of excellent scholarships and grant information. Register at that site so you can get access to all of the free college and Scholarship Money Information. They do not charge any money for this service.

ozone depletion, and global warming, paired with their technological expertise,
make them valuable commodities in the growing green industry.

telecommunications firms.
Environmental Design Degree
What's it all about? Everyone's talking about green buildings
these days, from buildings that are solar powered to buildings with roofs made

stewardship, environmental policy, environmental law, and environmental
ethics.

environmental chemist, a public health director, and much more.
Environmental Policy Degrees
What's it all about? We all know the environmental problems that
are facing us, and we all know something needs to be done about them (and soon).
Environmental policy makers are the ones who use science to pass new laws,
regulations, plans and programs to keep us, and the environment, safe for years
to come.
What will you learn? Institutions, politics, law, policy analysis,
and planning are the major topics you'll study.
Where will you work? An environmental policy degree will start you
on a path to becoming a policy analyst, advocate, planner, or program manager in

Alcohol Awareness Class Blog |
Alcohol Awareness Class Needed for Anti-Alcohol Advocate |
In life you must practice what you preach. As a parent you want to role model the behavior guidelines you establish for your children. If you are going to be vocal about not drinking alcohol or abusing drugs, you had best refrain from using them as well.
If you don’t practice what you preach, the bounce back can be quite embarrassing. Take the case of Ron Rose.
The 44-year-old from Perthshire in the United Kingdom has long been a staunch anti-alcohol advocate. Rose has campaigned vigorously against alcohol-induced anti-social behavior. You might think he is a tee-totaler or something.
Practice What You Preach
Obviously if I am writing this blog, Rose does not practice what he preaches. Recently police were tipped off that Rose was driving while intoxicated. Police pulled him over and found him to be more than three times the legal limit!
Wait, it gets better. Rose was sentenced to five months in prison! Why such a big sentence. Oh, did I forget to mention this was his third driving under the influence violation. Nice, huh?
This is another example of a blow-hard who does not practice what he preaches. Perhaps a nice online alcohol class, while he’s in jail, might be the ticket. |

Is The Rise of Technology In School Systems Making A Difference? |
Increasingly, we are seeing technology take over every aspect of society and itÂ’s becoming not only useful but necessary to engage in the rise of advancements that our school systems are installing into classrooms. Children and teenagers are no longer attending their local library to take out books for research projects and book reports. Instead, they are going to the resource in which they are most familiar with having grown up in a more developed generation: the computer. However, itÂ’s questionable whether schools spending budget money on the addition of upgraded technology is truly having a positive effect on students.
There are two sides to the debate of whether technology is worth the emphasis educators are placing on students being technologically competent. On the one side, many people view technology as being distracting and hindering students’ performance in schools, rather than having a positive effect on their education. In a New York Times article titled, “In Classroom of Future, Stagnant Scores,” Matt Richtel quotes Professor Cuban, an educator at Stanford University, who says, “There is very little valid and reliable research that shows the engagement causes or leads to higher academic achievement.” Computers allow children and teenagers access to an entirely new digital world, which could actually hinder their educational performance. Instead of using the computers to do research and homework or write papers, they are browsing the internet on celebrity gossip sites, video games and social media networks, such as FaceBook and Twitter.
On the other side, there are those educators who are avid supporters of technology, saying that technology has increased students’ enthusiasm for learning. Matt Richtel quotes Ms. Cator, a former executive at Apple Computer, who states, “Test scores are the same, but look at all the other things students are doing: learning to use the Internet to research, learning to organize their work, learning to use professional writing tools, learning to collaborate with others.” Although technology might not have led to an astronomical increase in test scores, children and teenager are learning other skills that will help them in the future as they pursue higher education and eventually a career in the real world.
So which is the case? Is technology actually helpful to school systems? Right now there is too little research on the matter to take sides, but itÂ’s definitely a subject that should be further investigated to determine whether spending a good deal of school funding on technology is actually worth it in the long run.
A while ago, we had another blog called "The effect of technology on education." It was written by Anton Lebedev, our other blog writer and gives somewhat of a different perspective on the issue. |

Subject: Medical Assistant Training Through ROP |
Someone has just posted a new coment in our Medical Assistant NET forum about joining Regional Occupation Program (ROP) for vocational training in California, where high school students are eligible to take appropriate ROP classes, including medical assisting. The discussion thread in our forum is rather extensive with lots of feedback, discussion and advice. The latest message was posted by Kat (from the ip address 66.27.143.33).
Message: Health Care Student
Hi everyone, I appreciate reading the post by "Teach" and providing her insight since I am looking into an ROP MA program (CA) to start medical assistant training in the next six weeks and will help me and my family tremendously. I need to work, have children and I know how to make sure I get the medication labels straight. I understand Lori's concerns in that discussion thread and they are valid yet, RNs are sued, doctors are sued, and MAs need to be competent too. This comes with common sense, an ablility prior to walking into the classroom. I had to pass an exam prior to my registration date. EMT's have less training than MAs. I have an MBA, and taken my RN prerequisites yet, moving to California where the clinicals are at 6:00 AM, I can not do that with children who start school at 8:00 AM. MA is my plan B to actually work in my field, and thanks again Lori for your post, and helping me understand the benefits about the MA ROP program. Affordable, fast, and efficient (for those who work hard and want to pass the exams) :). ~ Kat, SMA
ROP typically offers classes on a trimester basis, with many new courses starting throughout the year for California high school graduates and eligible adults. Job training opportunities offered are phlebotomy courses, clinical and administrative medical assisting, dental assisting, various other medical career programs, citizenship courses, High School diploma and GED courses, and more, depending on available resources and faculty at various institutions across California.

Career Path Development Info |
Job Search: Be Creative, Systematic and Persistent |
Career path development and job search requires a number of professional skills and personal traits. Not only do you need an education, training and experience, but when searching for a job it pays to be creative, go about it methodically and proceed with a plan:
1. Set goals for yourself
2. make plans
3. have a system
5. monitor your progress
6. be competent and competitive
It might sound a little odd, but pretend to be your own boss. Set expectations for what you need to accomplish, provide direction and monitor your work.
"Meet" with yourself once each week to evaluate your performance. I recommend doing this in writing, such as in a simple journal. Make a candid evaluation of what you have accomplished during the previous week, write an evaluation of what you have done so far, describe the results this effort has produced and compare these results with what you wanted to accomplish.
Next, refine your plans for the coming week. Your plans should include your goals, actions, and priorities. Next, map out a realistic plan for the next week based on achievable goals. For example, you could set goals for the number of people you will call, the number of networking meetings you will attend, and the research you will conduct.
In the coming weeks, compare the results from the previous week with the goals that you have set. For example, if you planned to send out twenty resumes and you mailed only two, you should:
a) explain why this happened
b) plan actions to correct the short-fall
You should also analyze why you missed your goal because this provides insights on what you need to do differently, for example, your goal may have been set too high, or maybe there are things you can do that will make it easier to achieve your job search goals, such as car pooling with a friend who is also looking for a job.
