TheGrado SR325is made in Brooklyn,N.Y.is a excellent sounding headphone with plenty of midrange detail and a robust bottom end that rivals pricey high-end speaker systems. Their retro styling (reminds people of the headsets worn by aviators in the early 30's) combinded with tonal quality make these headphones unique in the electronic world.
Tonal balance is something that should be considered when buying a set of headphones. In a perfect world the human ear has a range of 20hz-20khz. However as we age we lose the lower and upper ranges of this spectrum. Midrange is where the majority of our aural imformation lies. And that's where the Grado SR325is shines.
In music instruments and vocals lie in the midrange. The SR325is provide both smooth and responsive midrange while invoking instrument seperation. Voices come through clear and distinct with rich full bodied warmth. Bass and treble are solid though for some the treble may sound a little bright. That brightness might be a simple matter of the Grado SR325is revealing quite well what is on the recording. That's called accuracy.

The open design of the Grado SR325is ear cups offer a sound that has little noise attenuation from external noise. This means that those around you will hear sound ‘leaking' from the headphones. However, the advantage of this attribute, due to the lack of sound bouncing back from the earcups, is an open and noticeably lucid sound representation. Keep in mind that these headsets are not traditional headsets that completely cover the ear-they rest on the ear. So adjustment is critical for comfort.
The on-ear design does attract criticism from some as it's not as comfortable as a full over-ear design, but there's not a big problem with it. You will need to readjust the headphones every so often to keep them from fatiguing your ears - probably not a bad idea anyway. The SR325is have height adjustment for a secure tight fit but the ear cups rotate 360 degrees in order to store flat for storage or shipping. Few if any headphones share this feature. The softer ear pads from the SR60 and SR80 also fit these earphones, which can help improve long term wearing comfort.
