Fossil was founded in 1984 making clothing, accessories and watches, the watches which they produced were derived from a Swiss brand called Zodiac which had been making watches since 1882 and Fossil purchased in 2001. Fossil’s idea was to make a mark in the watch industry with a Swiss background in 2004 they purchased the Michele watch company to compete with the high end market. Fossil have become so successful at producing their own watch brand that other companies also come to them to create licensed watch lines these companies include such notables as DKNY, Burberry, Armani and Diesel just to name a few.

Storm watches were founded in London in 1989 by Steve Sun and his wife who were fed up not being able to buy a watch which they liked at a price which they could afford. So they decided to bring out their own brand of watches and because of the gap they had found in the market Storm watches started to carve out a niche in the UK watch market by making fashionable watches at an affordable price.
